Robert Vittum Cushman was born December 14, 1916 at 68 Court Street, Middlebury, Vermont. His parents were Harry Leon Cushman and Grace Caroline Vittum. His grandfather was Earl Livingston Cushman. Robert Cushman graduated from Middlebury College in 1939, and received a master’s degree from Northwestern University in 1941. During the beginning of World War II Robert was hired as a geologist by the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Denver, Colorado. On June 30, 1942 he married Linde Correan Walker of Great Falls, Montana. They had three daughters: Nancy, Susan, and Charlotte. Robert had a long career as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Society, and upon his retirement in 1975 he moved back to Middlebury. His time in Middlebury was spent as the historian of the Congregational Church, a member of the Rotary and of the Middlebury Grammar School Board, and as a volunteer at the Henry Sheldon Museum. Hi, My name is Clark B Burrows II.  My grandmother was Alice J (Cushman) Drake.  We lived with Earl L Cushman in Middlebury at 27 Washington Street @1948 - 1952 while my father was attending Middlebury college on the GI Bill. I do not know how this site works, but I can share some info where I see some holes. My grandmother (Alice) was married to Mortimer V Drake of Ticonderoga, NY.  My mother was her daughter, Mary-Alice Drake.  She married my father, Clark B Burrows, and they lived in Crown Point, NY all of their lives (except the four years in Middlebury, VT mentioned above). My grandmother Alice lived with us after Mortimer's death. I knew Earl's daughter Nancy (the actress) quite well, and visited her several times in NYC.  Her husband was Duncan Baldwin, and he was also an actor. Earl and Nancy were very unique individuals; l remember them both vividly, and can describe them and Alice in more detail if anyone is interested.  Please feel free to contact me.
