Daughter of Robert and Sarah (Reder) Cushman. Jack Cushman says: “Rumor says she immigrated to the US in the early days of the colony with Mary Singleton., Robert’s second wife (See 8/17/05 email from Jack Cushman). Note there is no date or place of death for Mary Singleton. Henry Wyles Cushman doubts that Sarah is a descendant of Robert of Kent.1768624 Jan 2007 e-mail from Dan Jenkins:I feel confident that the Sarah Coachman that married Hodgekin is the servant of Nat. Tilden on the Hercules 1634 with my Edward Jenkins and others. I think she is more of a relative than servant as she is not mentioned in Tildens Will when he wished Tarte and Jenkins to serve out the rest of their indentures to his son. Remember Tildens stepmother was a Cushman/Coachman. Note the connection to Twisden and Fernside . Fernside was connected to Comfort Star who came on the Hercules 1634 (See file on James Cushman under Cushman researchers).

Also spelled Hoskins, Hodgkins, Hodgskins and Haskins. William settled in Plymouth in 1633 and was admitted a freeman in 1634. He married, November 2, 1636, Sarah Cushman, and second, December 21, 1638, Ann Hynes or Hinds. He settled in Middleborough, MA, before the town was incoroporated and was own clerk before that time, continuing unitl 1693. The first record that is preserved showing his election is dated may 24, 1681. Before King Phillips was he was living in the house of William Clark and kept the original deed and record of the Prince & Coombs Purchase and probably the records of the town. He was a soldier from Middleborough in King Phillip’s war and was promised a grant of land for servicies. ...He lived at Scituate, Plymouth and Taunton, and in 1680 had grown “old and feeble”.17689

More..but speculation: William Hoskins married (3) after 1674 Elizabeth (_____) Knapp, widow of Aaron Knapp. (On 27 October 1674, "letters of administration was granted unto Elizabeth Knapp on the estate of Aron [Knapp]."
There were no children from this marriage.
On 17 January 1702[/3?], "Elizabeth Hoskins of Taunton … whose first husband was Aron Knap deceased of said Taunton and she the executrix to his last will & testament together with her eldest son Aaron Knap now living in Swansey, John Knap & Samuel Knap both of said Taunton," entered into an agreement, in which "the said Elizabeth Hoskins, widow, together with her son Aaron Knap, executors to the last will and testament of Aron Knap deceased," relinquished to "John Knap and Samuel Knap" rights to lands in Taunton.
This document, in conjunction with the deed of 7 October 1690, makes it clear that it was William Hoskins the immigrant who married, as his third wife, Elizabeth (_____) Knapp, the widow of Aaron Knapp. (This confirms a speculation made by Donald Lines Jacobus in 1945 and again in 1959.17691

Birth MemoChristening 31 Jan 1590 Saint George The Maryr, Canterbury, Kent
Widow of Thomas Singleton of Sandwich, England.49 Thomas Shingleton of Sandwich, Shoemaker, and Mary Clarke of the same parish, virgin, at St. Mary Bredman’s Canterbury, 28 January 1610/11. Printed in Cowpers’s Canterbury Marriage Licenses, Series 1, column 374. 17693 “Married once before to (fnu) Singleton, a Canterbury shoemaker. Mary was from Sandwich.”17694 Father was William Clarke (Source Cowper, 16). She married Robert Cushman when he was 40 years old. She was 27 years old. Probably died after 1620 because there is evidence that she and her step son-Thomas accompanied Robert Cushman on Mayflower voyage from London to South Hampton, there to meet the Speedwell.17695 She did not accompany her husband Robert to New England in 1621 (Fortune) but when he traveled there, he did not intend to stay, for he returned to England to continue as business agent for the colony. Because he received a share of land division, it was probably his intent to return to Plymouth, but he died in England before his dream could be realized.

I have a copy of the 1617 marriage record of Robbert Coeetsman (Robert Cushman) to Mary Chingelton (Mary Shingleton) in Leiden.17696 Mary was born Mary Clark in Sandwich. The 27th day of January, [1610/11] were married Thomas Shingleton of ye psh of St. Peters in Sandwich Mary Clarke of the same, virgin & Lics[ense]. Mary Clarke daughter of Christopher, baptized St. Peters on 24 May 1590.
