An important article is Mrs. John E Barclay and Anna M. Gurney, "Rebecca, Wife of Reverend Isaac Cushman" (TAG 26:144), which shows the error in undocumented published claims that the wife of Thomas Cushmans son Isaac was an Abigail Richard; she was much more likely Rebecca 2 Harlow. Newman A Hall, "Mary Cushman, Wife of Francis Hutchinson, An Isaac Allerton Line," MQ 52:28, convincingly dears up the question as to which Hutchinson she married, showing that it had to be Francis, not Edward. See also Tag 24:105 and NEHGR 122:48, 249,128:193 and the account of the Cushman family given in Small Descendants. 2:669. From the cited sources it can be seen that Cushman's daughter Mary married Francis Hutchinson: Thomas married Ruth Howland, daughter of Mayflower passenger John Howland; Sarah married John Howkes; Isaac probably married Rebecca Harlow; Elkanah married (1) Elizabeth Cole and (2) Martha Cooke; Fear died without issue; Eleazer married Elizabeth Combes; and Lydia married William Harlow.

Had six chhildren.7651 Some confusion as to whether Mary Rebeckah Rickard or Rebecca Harlow was the mother of Isaac and Ichabod and/or the five girls . The Joseph Augustine Cushman “The first Seven Generations of the Cushman Family in New England” does not mention marriage to Rebecca Harlow, only Rebeckah Richard.

There is a good genealogy of him and his descendants at Representative Men and old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts by J. H Beers and Co., ops 1155-1156.

Most of the Cushman genealogies identify Mary Rickard as
Isaac's wife, but the references are confusing and
contradictory. The Mayflower Families in Progress (MFIP) have
accepted Rebecca Harlow as Isaac Cushman's wife (daughter of
William Harlow and Rebecca Bartlett Harlow); this marriage is
also referenced in Harlow Family, the First Five Generations,
pp. 11-13 (this book references Plymouth Colony Records, 8:17;
Plympton Vital Records,470,471; others); The American

(Isaac, Isaac, Thomas, Robert). Daughter of Isaac and Sarah (Gibbs) Cushman. 7697 According to Joseph Augustine Cushman 7697 she married Benjamin Spooner. However, further research show she married John Gibbs b 16 Feb 1698, d aft 20 Nov 1767. Utzinger lists several Gibbs children 136From the Connecticut Nutmegger, p. 174 “Isaac Cushman, Jr. of Plympton married for his first wife, Sarah Gibbs, great-grandaughter of Richahd Warren. There maybe some confusion over which Sarah married John Gibbs. I have an article from the Middleboro Gazette dated 1 Jun 1855 announcing a marriage between Sarah B Cushman and John C. Gibbs???2828
